Why are surfactants at the heart of the A-CERUMEN formula?
Various surfactants can be found in everyday life, such as ingredients in soap, shampoos and some foodstuffs.
What is a surfactant?
A surfactant disperses fatty substances. It modifies the surface tension between two surfaces (i.e. the tension which exists on the surface separating two environments). It prevents dirt from attaching onto a surface. Cerumen consists of between 20% and 50% lipids (fatty substances), depending on the individual. Given the fatty, waxy consistency of an earwax plug, it appears obvious to use the recognised properties of surfactants.
